About Me

My name is Abby. I love cities, Michigan State basketball, Detroit Tigers baseball and books. I deeply love the community of people I get to do life with, whether they live states away or blocks away from me. I always have music playing and I frequently quote movie lines in every day conversation. I have a slight obsession with the state of Michigan and personality tests (I’m an INFJ, Enneagram Type 2…). If I hear you mention Parks and Rec, Harry Potter, or the StrengthFinders Test in front of me, I’ll get really excited and know we could be friends!

If you were to peek into my brain at any given moment you would probably get overwhelmed because I am always thinking about something and my thoughts go a mile a minute. I love to write because it creates space for me to get those thoughts out.

I believe we all have a story that is meant to be shared. I believe we’re meant to live healthy, whole, and thriving lives and I desire for everyone to live life abundantly. I love people and seeing them grow and thrive. One of my deepest passions is helping people uncover who they really are and seeing people, organizations and communities come alive.

I like to write about deep things and things that matter, but I also love overusing exclamation points and just writing about things I love. Another person I love is Jesus and while my theology and beliefs have shifted and the world has become less black and white and a little more gray, Jesus remains and I have fallen even more enthralled with his love and mystery.

I deeply believe in love and justice and as Dr. Cornel West says, “While they’re not the same thing, they’re indivisible.” I believe if we want to live like Jesus did we need to be deeply committed to love, to justice, to mercy and to compassion. I also don’t think we’re meant to walk this journey or live this life alone. I’m so happy you’re here and hope you’ll join me on this journey!

  1. So…I went to college in Michigan, and it has such a special place in my heart. I’ve moved back to Maryland, but I still go back a couple times a year to visit. Because it might just be the best state in the USA. 🙂 And, I graduated with my Master’s in Community/Clinical Counseling from Eastern in 2011…and I LOVED it! Good luck and best wishes as you work through your program!

I’m so glad you found my blog, and I’m so glad to have found yours! I’m so glad to *meet* you! 🙂
